Alan T. Hostetler, C. P. A.

 Alan Hostetler, CPA, graduated from Eastern Mennonite University
in Harrisonburg, VA in 2001 with a Bachelor of Arts in Accounting and Business Administration and moved to Charlottesville where he began practicing accounting.  In 2003 he was hired by Thomas C. Stott, CPA and has worked extensively with individual and business taxation as well as auditing.  Raised in rural Ohio, he worked on farms and developed a love of the outdoors, where he likes to spend his free time.  
 
He is a past president of the Thomas Jefferson Chapter of the Virginia Society of CPA’s and has served as a church treasurer. In 2010, Alan was recognized by the Virginia Society of CPAs as one of the top 5 Virginia CPAs under 35.
 
 
 
 
Marina S. Voss
 
Staff Accountant Marina Voss was hired by Thomas C. Stott, CPA  in October 2003, and has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration with a minor in Computer Science. She is a QuickBooks Certified Pro Advisor, and is available for on-site QuickBooks training and support. She has completed an H & R Block income tax course, and is currently taking accounting classes offered by the School of Continuing and Professional Education at the University of Virginia.  She is working towards obtaining a Professional Accountant Certificate, and taking the CPA exam.  Formerly, she managed her own retail business and is active in her church.
 


James Mizick

Staff accountant Jim Mizick has been with the firm since November 2005. He has a Bachelor of Arts and Science degree and is a former high school science teacher. He has over twenty years experience in both private and public accounting with his primary background being in federal and state taxation. He is also a stone carver and gardener.


Rahul Maitra

Rahul joined our firm in December 2011. Originally from New York, he graduated from the State University of New York at Geneseo, NY in 2005 with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and soon after passed the Uniform CPA exam. He took his first job as a Staff Auditor at Tate & Tryon in Washington, DC - they specialized in Non-profit audits in the DC area. He had the chance to provide audit and tax services on engagements with: Wolf Trap Foundation for the Performing Arts, National Association of Home Builders, American Nursing Assocation, American Immigration Lawyers Association, among others. Rahul later joined Wendroff & Associates as a Staff Accountant where he provided bookkeeping and tax services for a wide range of small businesses with revenues ranging from $2 - 10 million. Before joining the firm, Rahul worked as a consultant for the United Way and was the lead financial officer for Robert Redd, LLC. Rahul has a passion for permaculture, deep nature connection, the arts and playing music - he is also an working on a landmark book series.

 

 Mo Nichols

Administrative Assistant Mo Nichols has an Associates in Fine Arts from Piedmont Virginia Community College, and has lived in Charlottesville since 1993. This is her fourth year assembling tax returns, and her second tax season with Hostetler Stott CPA. She serves on the City of Charlottesville Tree Commission, volunteers with an urban 4-H club, and is active in her church. She loves gardening, watercolor painting, sewing, and attending Jazzercise.

Thomas C. Stott


In November, 1981, Thomas C. Stott began his own CPA practice in Charlottesville.  Nearly 30 years later, he continues to serve our clients under a new firm name.  He graduated from East Carolina College in 1967 with a Bachelors of Science in Business Administration andbecame a Certified Public Accountant on October 12, 1981. He served three years in the US Army as a lieutenant and worked in the insurance industry for seven years before entering public accounting.
 
He has served as President of the Thomas Jefferson Chapter of the Virginia Society of CPA’s and as a member of the Board of Directors of the Virginia Society of CPA’s. He has also served on the Board of Directors of several local non profit organizations, treasurer of his church and the Get Acquainted Tennis Club. He enjoys playing tennis and golf, gardening and dancing.
